Steel Pulse is a Rastafarian reggae band from Britain, known for their authentic roots reggae mixed with jazz and Latin music. Their debut album Handsworth Revolution is considered a landmark in British reggae history. As the 80s progressed, their music incorporated elements of dance and R&B, while still maintaining their roots reggae origins.
Steel Pulse achieved crossover success and won a Grammy in the late 80s. In the 90s, they returned to their rootsy sound with touches of dancehall and hip-hop. Steel Pulse toured extensively in the 2000s and 2010s, but returned to the studio for 2019’s Mass Manipulation.
